2009-10 Izzone Campout Information

What is the Izzone Campout?
The Izzone Campout is an annual event allowing students that have purchased student season basketball admission to campout on Munn Field.  The Izzone Campout is the first official event of the season and counts towards student’s attendance for the upcoming season.

What goes on at the Izzone Campout?
The campout is one of the most memorable events of the year! Students set up tents (or sometimes have simply a blanket), play football and Frisbee, cookout on grills, order food from local venders, visit with friends, play cards, watch college football, listen to live music, and much, much more.  This year we will be adding a buffalo eating contest, basketball tournament, and open ice skating.  It is the official opening pep rally (but more like a festival) for 2009-10 basketball season. Tom Izzo has camped out for the past few years, and members of the basketball team often stop by to hang out with the fans. It is a great time!

When is the Izzone Campout?
- Camp-out Pre-Registration – Lake Huron Room, MSU Union – September 25th, 8AM-6PM
- Camp-out Late Registration – Munn Field – Saturday, September 26, 8AM
- Camp-out – Munn Field – Saturday, September 26, 8AM – Sunday, September 27, 10AM

For those who pre-register in the Lake Huron Room on the third floor of the Union on September 25, they are required to be at Munn Field on Saturday, September 26th by 9 am. Groups/individuals who do not pre-register will be required to be at Munn Field at 8am on Saturday to register. It is highly encouraged to pre-register.

How do I register for the Izzone Campout?
Pre-registration for the campout will take place Friday, September 25, 2008 in the Lake Huron Room in the MSU Union.  Students who want to campout as a group are encouraged to register all at the same time.  You will be assigned a wristband that you MUST have on until the campout ends on Sunday, September 27, 2009.  You will NOT be admitted if you do not have you wristband on.  If this is a problem for you should wait to register until Saturday morning at the campout.  Groups/individuals who do not register on Friday may register on Saturday, September 27, 8:00 AM at Munn Field.

Is there a maximum number of people per camp-site?
Yes – It is highly encouraged that no more than 6 people occupy a camp-site.  Camp-sites are 10x10.  If you come to register with more than 6 people, you will be issued an additional camp-site.

Who is allowed to take part in the Izzone Campout?
ALL students that purchased student season basketball admission for 2009-10 are highly encouraged to attend the campout.  The campout counts towards your attendance for the 2009-10 season.

How does the camp-out affect where my seats are located for the season?
 - Returning 2008-09 Izzone Members -
Returning 2008-09 upper and lower bowl Izzone members must participate in the Izzone Campout in order to receive access to lower level seating.  Admission to the lower bowl for the 09-10 season is determined by student's attendance at the games during the previous year (09-10) along with participation in this year's Izzone Campout (September 26-27, 2009). Lower Bowl Priority Access is determined by ranking students on how many games they attended, their average arrival time, and attendance at the 2009-10 Izzone Campout.  The top 1400 returning Izzone members that meet the outlined criteria will receive Lower Bowl Priority Access.  Returning students that do not complete the 09-10 campout will not receive lower bowl priority access.

 - New 2009-10 Izzone Members – It is very important that you attend the camp-out.  New Izzone members will automatically be assigned upper bowl seating.  You will immediately begin competing for lower bowl priority access for the 10-11 season.  Participation in the camp-out will count towards all students 09-10 season attendance.
Those that do not receive lower bowl priority seating will receive upper bowl seating.

When do I find out if I have eligibility for lower bowl priority access?
The list of members with lower bowl priority access will be available after the Izzone student admissions sale at www.izzone.com, the SAF Office, and the Athletic Ticket office at Jenison Field House.

When do I find out if I received lower bowl priority seating?
Those that receive lower bowl priority seating will be posted no later than Monday, September 28, 2009 in the SAF Office, online at www.izzone.com, and at the Athletic Ticket Office at Jenison Field House.

What if I cannot make it to the Izzone Campout for the entire weekend?
If you have a University Accepted Excuse, you can fill out an Izzone Campout excuse form to not have your absence affect your lower bowl status.  University Accepted Excuses include a death in the family, academic class obligation, or personal medical issue.  If you are attending the MSU vs. Indiana football game, a ticket stub will be required as proof.  You must fill out the excuse form, available in the SAF Office at 333 Union Building and must provide the appropriate documentation.  Examples of documentation include: the football ticket, flight itineraries, a letter from an advisor, medical note, etc.  The excuse form and the documentation are due in our office on or before Thursday, September 24 at 5 PM.

What if I cannot make it to the Izzone Campout for part of the weekend?
If you will need to miss part of the Izzone Campout for an event such as a test, or MSU Greek recruitment, you must still fill out an Izzone Campout excuse form for your absence to not affect your lower bowl status.  You must fill out the form, available in the SAF Office at 333 Union and provide documentation of why you will be gone.  Examples include a signed note from your professor, class schedule, note from your advisor.  If you are in a sorority, you must fill out an excuse form and be listed on the official “Rush” spreadsheet we receive from the Pan-Hellenic Council.  Your excuse form only excuses you for the times that your event is happening.  Once you have finished your event, you are required to report back to the Izzone Campout and check in with one of the Co-Directors.  The excuse form and the documentation are due in our office on or before Thursday, September 24 at 5 PM.

How do I successfully complete the Izzone Campout?
4 random attendance checks occur throughout the campout. You must be present during all checks to complete the campout and have a chance at lower bowl seating.  An announcement will be made prior to the attendance checks to give you ample time to return to your camp-site.  You MUST be at your camp-site when a representative comes by.
