Izzone Campout Information
What is the Izzone Campout?
The Izzone Campout is an annual event allowing students to campout on Munn Field in order to earn lower bowl seats in the Izzone.
What goes on at the Izzone Campout?
The campout itself is normally one of the most memorable events of the year! Students set up tents (or sometimes have simply a blanket), play football and Frisbee, cookout on grills, order food, visit with friends, play cards, watch college football, listen to live music, and more. Tom Izzo has camped out for the past few years, and members of the basketball team often stop by to hang out with the fans. Overall, it is a great time!
When is the Izzone Campout?
For those who pre-register in the SAF office on Friday, September 28th, they are required to be at Munn Field On Saturday, September 29th by 9 am. Groups/individuals who do not pre-register will be required to be at Munn Field at 8 am on Saturday to register. The Campout concludes on Sunday, September 30th, between approximately 10 and 11 am.
Who is allowed to take part in the Izzone Campout?
ALL students with Izzone seating are eligible for the campout, and everyone has a chance to receive lower bowl seating. Due to seniority in the section, some members will be guaranteed lower bowl seats IF they complete the campout. The list of these members will be available after the Izzone student admissions sale takes place September 16 through September 21, 2007. All other members may choose to be an “extra” at the campout and have a chance to receive lower bowl seating.
How do I register for the Izzone Campout?
Registration for the campout will take place Friday, September 28, 2007 in the SAF Office, 333 Union. Students who want to campout as a group should register all at the same time. You will be assigned a wristband that you MUST have on until the campout ends on Sunday, September 30, 2007, so if this is a problem for you (because of an event or something else Friday night that you will not want a wristband on at) you should wait to register until Saturday morning at the campout. Groups/individuals who do not register on Friday may register on Saturday, September 29 at 8:00 AM.
What is an extra?
Extras are Izzone members who are not (due to previous years’ participation) guaranteed lower bowl seating but still choose to campout. Members who are guaranteed lower bowl seating must buy Izzone student admission AND complete the campout in order to retain their lower bowl status. Those who do not complete these tasks leave spots open in the lower bowl to be filled by extras. Extras are randomly placed into these open spots in the lower bowl. There is no priority for if an extra is a senior versus a freshman. All extras have the same chance to get in, because the drawing is completely random.
How many extras make it into the lower bowl?
It all depends on how many lower bowl students return and how many people campout as extras.
How do I sign up to be an extra?
Extras sign up at www.izzone.com during the time between the end of the student admission sales and the Izzone Campout. After extras have signed-up online, they must also register with the group they would like to campout with on Friday, September 28, 2007 in the SAF Office, 333 Union.
What if I cannot make it to the Izzone Campout for the entire weekend?
If you are attending an MSU event, or the MSU football game versus Wisconsin, or if you have some other event that will keep you away from Michigan State for the entire weekend, you can fill out an Izzone Campout excuse form to not have your absence affect your lower bowl status. You must fill out the form, available in the SAF office, 333 Union, and on our website, www.izzone.com, and also provide some kind of documentation that you will be gone. Examples of documentation include: a copy of the football ticket, flight itineraries, a letter from an advisor, etc. The excuse form and the documentation are due in our office on or before Friday, September 28, 2007 at 5 PM. Extras may not fill out excuse forms.
What if I cannot make it to the Izzone Campout for part of the weekend?
If you will need to miss part of the Izzone Campout for an event such as a test, or MSU Greek recruitment, you must still fill out an Izzone Campout excuse form for your absence to not affect your lower bowl status. You must fill out the form, available in our office, 333 Union, and on our website, www.izzone.com, and also provide documentation of why you will be gone. Examples of documentation include an email with the date and time you are taking the test, etc. If you are in a sorority, you must obtain a letter from Tony Lake, Assistant Director of Student Life – Greek Affairs, and turn this letter in with your excuse form. Your excuse form only excuses you for the times that your event is happening. Once you have finished your event, you are required to report back to the Izzone Campout and check in with one of the Co-Directors. The excuse form and the documentation are due in our office on or before Friday, September 28, 2007 at 5 PM. Extras may not fill out excuse forms.
How do I successfully complete the Izzone Campout?
Random attendance checks occur throughout the campout. You must be present during all checks to complete the campout and have a chance at lower bowl seating.
