The Student Alumni Foundation is dedicated to serving our members, the students of Michigan State University.
With approximately 6,000 members yearly, the goal of the Student Alumni Foundation (SAF) is to provide high quality programming year round that enhances the Spartan experience and will forge a lifelong bond to the University. All programs and events are developed to benefit the students with things like the IZZONE (men's basketball) and Slapshots (men's hockey) student sections involvement in athletics. Our Alumni Engagement program focuses on advancing students by hosting networking events of all sizes with Spartan Alumni. The Spartan Ambassadors (Campus Tours) section offers a chance to practice public speaking skills as well as impact thousands of future Spartans by providing top notch tours. And still yet, our Students For State program focuses on alcohol-free activities such as benefit nights at local businesses or dorm watch parties for road sporting events. We also run the Sparty Mascot Program which gives you the opportunity to escort the best mascot in the world, Sparty, across campus on his golf cart to his many events throughout the year.
In addition to the many campus programs we provide, we also strive to save our members money through our discount card program by building relationships with area businesses and on-campus services. With many students on a strict budget, discounts such as 10% off used textbooks at 6 of the 7 bookstores on campus are great ways to save money. Our discount card usually offers discounts at over 60 area businesses!
At the Student Alumni Foundation it is up to you how involved you choose to be. For those members who truly enjoy what the SAF embodies or find themselves especially enthusiastic about one of the programs, you may want to check out our Board of Director positions. The SAF Board of Directors are the student volunteers dedicated to planning and implementing all of the programming that goes on throughout the year. Each position is a University-backed Internship and is eligible for class credit upon further review by an academic adviser. In addition to our external programs, there are also opportunities in Marketing, Technical Services (web design and technical assistance), Social Media, Merchandise (design and promotion) and our newest program, the MSU Traditions book (journaling and documenting the traditions of the University).
Feel free to contact any of us at the Student Alumni Foundation with any questions you may have. We look forward to seeing you on campus and making your time at Michigan State University unforgettable!
Go Green!
